installation order of End User Computing Agents for Horizon View, Dynamic Environment Manager, and App Volumes (2118048)

 Purpose
Installation of various user experience, environment and VDI agents can cause unexpected issues of fail completely if installed in the incorrect order.
 Resolution
In order to ensure the correct interoperability between components, follow the installation order as documented:
1.       Hypervisor Tools
·         For VMware Tools installation, see General VMware Tools installation instructions (1014294).
·         For physical desktops, skip this step.
·         For VMs running on other hypervisors, please consult the developers website for any required tool installations.

2.       VDI Agent
·         For VMware Horizon Agent installation, see Install Horizon Agent on a Virtual Machine.
·         For other VDI deployments, please consult the developers website for required agent installation instructions.
·         For non-VDI environments, skip this step.

3.       VMware Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM) Agent
·         If VMware DEM is not deployed in the environment, skip this step.

4.       VMware App Volumes Agent
·         If VMware App Volumes is not deployed in the environment, skip this step.
Note: The following needs to be considered when updating a master image.
·         When installing App Volumes Agent, ensure that the installation user is not affected by a DEM GPO.
·         The App Volumes Agent will virtualise the root of the C drive and most registry keys.  Therefore, before installing updates or new software, you should uninstall the App Volumes Agent and reboot the VM.
·         Once the master image updates are complete, reinstall the App Volumes Agent and login to the master image after the reboot.  Then, login to App Volumes Manager and search for the machine in Directory -> Computers.  Ensure that the Agent Version is correct and the Last Boot time is current.
